PreRace, LLC, ("PreRace.com"), is committed to our users' privacy and we want you to understand the policies and practices we follow in collecting and using your personal information.
This Privacy Policy describes:
the type of personal information PreRace.com collects from users;
how the information is used; and
how to review, modify, or delete it.
PreRace.com may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect material changes in how we collect, use, share or store your personal information. You consent to any changes PreRace.com makes to this Privacy Policy if you continue to use any of the websites, registration processes, and related services offered by PreRace.com (the "Services") after receiving a notice of the change or upon our posting of the new Privacy Policy on the PreRace.com website, http://www.prerace.com/races/privacy/. Furthermore, the terms of this Privacy Policy are incorporated by reference to the Terms of Use agreement governing the use of the Services.
WHAT WE COLLECT
General
PreRace.com provides a clearinghouse of information about a variety of bicycle races and events ("Events"), enables individual riders ("Riders") to register for and share information on the Events, and enables race organizers or sponsors ("Promoters") to add and modify information about specific Events. PreRace.com may request personal information on both Riders and Promoters, as described in this Privacy Policy, and may also collect general tracking data for all users, including users of the website and other Services that do not require registration as a Rider or Promoter.
Account Creation
If you are a prospective Rider or Promoter, you will be asked to provide basic contact information when you first register for a personal account on PreRace.com (the "Account"). This may include your name, email, and zip code. You will also be asked to select a screen name ("Screen Name") and a password. The password, in combination with your email address, will serve as your log-in to access your Account.
Interactive Content Creation and Sharing
During the creation of your Account, you will also be asked whether you wish to share your personal calendar of events established on PreRace.com ("Personal Calendar") with other PreRace.com users. Once the Account is created and activated, you will be able to change this initial selection.
Once your Account is established, you have the ability to add Events to your Personal Calendar, and these Events will appear as hyperlinks within your Calendar, which may be viewed by other users if you opt to share this information.
You will have the option to synchronize the information contained in your Calendar with information you have stored in other calendar and time-management systems, independent of PreRace.com.
You may also use PreRace.com to upload photographs ("Photos") and post reviews ("Reviews") of Events. The Photos and Reviews will be visible to all PreRace.com users and will be associated with your Screen Name. You may be asked to add descriptive information ("Tags") to associate with the Photos you upload, and these Tags may be visible to other users and/or used to generate search results for PreRace.com.
You may also add a Race to the PreRace.com database. During this process, you will be asked for a variety of information about the Race, and you also have the option to indicate whether you are a Promoter for that Race. Your status as Promoter, if selected, may be visible to other users.
You may also establish a subset of other users ("Buddies") who you grant selective access to your Calendar and other information.
Registration
Depending upon the Race, Riders may register using either the registration process operated by PreRace.com ("Registration") or an independent registration system arranged by the Race organizer using a vendor that is not affiliated with PreRace.com. Any personal information collected by such unaffiliated vendors is subject to the privacy policy of those vendors, and PreRace.com makes no representations as to what personal information is collected or how it might be used. Personal information collected through Registration hosted by PreRace.com may include your personal contact information, and specific information as requested by the Race organizer ("Race-Specific Data"). Race-Specific Data may include information pertaining to personal characteristics/qualities associated with the administration of the Race and participant categories, such as gender and age. The Registration for a particular Race may also require you to agree to specific waivers or other terms and conditions pertaining to the Race, and independent of PreRace.com.
Navigation
Like other interactive websites, PreRace.com collects information about your use of the Services using cookies, log files, and web beacons. Cookies are small bits of data that our system automatically places on your computer to allow PreRace.com to customize your experience by recognizing you as a registered user whenever you return to our site from the same computer and browser. PreRace.com servers automatically generate log files that may contain the IP address you visit from, your browser type, the date, time and duration of your visit, and the particular pages you view.
PreRace.com may also collect information about your online behavior through web beacons or similar technology. This information may include advertisement responses, websites that you visit, products that you purchase, and other behavioral data. Web beacons are tiny graphic images that are unobtrusively placed on a website or in an e-mail. When the HTML code for the web beacon points to a site to retrieve the image, it simultaneously passes information to the PreRace.com servers, such as the IP address of the computer that retrieved the image, the time and duration the web beacon was viewed, the type of browser that retrieved the image, and previously set cookie values.
Miscellaneous
Children. To comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, PreRace.com will never knowingly or intentionally collect any personal information about children under the age of 13. If we obtain actual knowledge that we have collected personal information about a child under the age of 13, PreRace.com will immediately delete that information. Because PreRace.com does not knowingly or intentionally collect such information, to the best of our knowledge and belief, PreRace.com has no such information to use or to disclose to a third party.
Credit card information. In some limited instances, PreRace.com may collect your credit card number(s) and related information, such as the expiration date of the card. If you submit credit card information to PreRace.com, that information is encrypted and protected with SSL encryption software. PreRace.com will use the information for purposes of processing and completing only those transactions you approve, and the information will be disclosed to third parties only as necessary to complete a specific transaction.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
Communications from PreRace.com
PreRace.com may send email or other communications related to the operation of the Services and administration of your Account.
Dissemination of Individual Information
In addition to how your personal information may be shared, as described above, PreRace.com may also distribute your information as follows:
Registration. PreRace.com may send your personal information and Race-Specific Data to the organizers of the Race(s) to which you register. These Race organizers may then send email or other communications to you, based solely upon the policies of the Race, to which PreRace.com makes no representations.
Payment Information. PreRace.com may share your personal information and credit-card information to third-party payment processing services and similar vendors as part of your Registration or purchase of products or other services on PreRace.com.
User-generated Content. PreRace.com may share Photos, Reviews, Tags and other information you submit to PreRace.com, and your association with this information, with other users of PreRace.com and third parties.
Calendar and Buddies. PreRace.com may share information about the Events you add to your Calendar to the parties you designate, as well as the list of individuals you designate as Buddies.
Legal Process. PreRace.com may disclose your personal information as necessary to comply with relevant law and respond to legal requests from law enforcement agencies, courts and other government agencies, consistent with PreRace.com's Terms of Use.
Summary Data. PreRace.com may sell or transfer non-individualized information to third parties, including summary or aggregated anonymous information about all or sub-groups of PreRace.com users.
Sale or Merger. PreRace.com may sell or transfer your personal information to third parties in connection with any merger, acquisition, reorganization, change in capital structure, sale of all or substantially all of the assets of PreRace.com.
Advertiser cookies and web beacons
Advertising agencies, advertising networks, and other companies who place advertisements on the Services may use their own cookies, web beacons, and other technology to collect information about you. PreRace.com does not control these companies' use of such technology and PreRace.com has no responsibility for the use of such technology to gather information about individuals.
Links
The PreRace.com service may contain hypertext links to the websites of one or more third parties. PreRace.com is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these other websites.
HOW TO REVIEW, MODIFY, OR DELETE YOUR INFORMATION
Riders or Promoters can review, modify and delete their personal information stored on PreRace.com using their Account.
PreRace.com stores your information in a database on computers managed by PreRace.com, which have security measures that reasonably protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under PreRace.com's control. Notwithstanding such measures, PreRace.com cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent PreRace.com computers from being illegally accessed, and the information on them stolen or altered.
