This great event has two parts to it in 2012. There is the Race sanctioned by USA Cycling and the ACA, and the non-competitive Ride.

THE CHALLENGE RIDE

This is a timed ride...unless you don't want to be timed.

Due to lack of interest in the 7 mile ride there will only be the full 9 miles. Yay.

The Ride has two finish lines. Finish 1 is the ride to the top of the pavement, a heart pounding 7 mile climb up Sunshine Canyon. However if you receive a minimum of $50 dollars donated in your name through your donation page, which is attached to your registration confirmation email, you have been challenged to ride to the top of the climb which is finish 2. This is another 2 miles of dirt road with sections of up to 16% grade. This grueling extra 2 miles of the climb will challenge you to ride hard and give you the satisfaction of climbing one of Boulder County's toughest climbs.

All proceeds go The Community Foundation - Boulder County which is a non-profit organization and works with non-profit organizations throughout the county, making it a better place to live. For more information on The Community Foundation click here.

Online sign up only. You can sign up online up until 8:00am the day of the event. Fee goes up to $35 on 6/4/12. If you sign up on or before midnight of 5/20/12 you get a goodie bag at number pick up.

THE RACE

The first Race in the Colorado Hillclimb Championship Series.


Registration: Online Registration ONLY - NO ONSITE REGISTRATION $30 for all categories. Prices increases by $5 after 6/4/12. Registration closes at 7am on race day 6/10/12. No Online Registration fee. First wave starts at 8:05am See PreRace.com web site for online registration and race details. JR Disclaimer: There is no separate race for Juniors. Support: None, bring a pump and spare tube or get picked up by the sweep vehicle. No chip timing. Awards will be given out at the Start after each race. At the Boulder Center for Sports medicine.

Notes:  Race Rules: All USAC Rules Apply www.usacycling.org. USAC License Required-USAC 1-day license: $10. Annual licenses available online at www.usacycling.org. ACA annual membership recommended - ACA 1-day membership $5, available on site (ACA 1-day membership exempt with USAC 1-day. Annual memberships available online at www.coloradocycling.org). Gear Restrictions apply to all juniors. See USAC Rule 1M6 (www.usacycling.org ). Bike Restrictions: Juniors - see USAC Rule 1M7 (usacycling.org). Weather-Race held rain/shine, no refunds offered on this event, check PreRace.com for updates. USAC Waiver-must be signed by all racers &/or parent guardians for anyone under 18 yrs old. Top two miles of the course are on dirt. You may come down Sunshine or Four Mile but stay right and be careful of uphill riders. Awards are medals.

Directions: * Denver: Highway 36 north of Denver, stay on 36 (turns in 28th in Boulder), take a left at Canyon Blvd, then a right on 9th St, left on Mapleton Ave and right at 4th ST and park at the Center for Sports Medicine. * Boulder: Ride your bike. Broadway to Mapleton Ave and right at 4th ST and park at the Center for Sports Medicine. PARKING: Start- Parking will be at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine.
