The 3rd annual WackyW is a one-day cycling event to encourage fitness, fun, and fundraising. With four rides to choose from, and money from each registration benefiting Douglas County Schools, the WackyW is a no-brainer way to spend a Sunday in Colorado! Riders enjoy a spacious staging area at Rocky Heights Middle School, stocked aid stations, excellent post-ride food, an amazing expo, and fun-filled goodie bags.
Riders have the option of 4 courses:
•6 mile - perfect for kids of all ages or anyone looking for a fun ride on the trail systems.
•45 mile - offers some climbing, flats and beautiful terrain taking riders through the major cities of Douglas County.
•62 mile - same as the 45, but with beautiful scenery rolling out and back along Highway 105 to reach a metric century.
•100 mile - same as the 62, but with MORE beautiful scenery including Tomah Road and Palmer Lake.
Registration Fee Includes:
- •A 2013 Men’s or Women’s WackyW jersey for 45, 62, and 100 mile riders
- •A WackyW Race Cap or Beanie for 6 mile riders
- •A yummy post-ride lunch in the Food & Fun Zone
- •The best goodie bag you’ll receive all season
- •SAG, medical, mechanical and law enforcement support on all routes
For complete WackyW information, please visit their website at WackyW.com
How the WackyW benefits Douglas County Schools:
It's very simple and there is no fundraising! When you sign up for the WackyW, a drop down menu lets you choose a Douglas County School to help out. A set amount from your registration automatically goes to that school's PTO via the Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF). The set amount is $10 for the 45, 62, and 100 mile distances and $5 for every 6 mile registration. Want to give more? No problem! You can give an additional donation during registration. Riders may also choose the DCEF's General Fund (Fill The Gap!) if they do not have a school preference. Pretty painless way to raise money, right?
Refund Policy:Cyclists tolerate all types of Colorado weather; and, while we would expect a beautiful fall day in early September, one never knows. The Wacky W will go on, regardless of the weather, and there will be NO refunds.
IMPORTANT: Due to safety precautions, every Wacky W rider must be registered and on a bike. No bicycle trailers are permitted. Tag-a-longs are OK (6 mile route only), however both riders must be registered.
