06/19 - Rock the River Road Race (Road|RR)
Event Type: Road | RR
Average rating:
Rolling Hills along the Colorado River, this is a true all-a-rounder’s course. Bring your “A” game.
This year the race heads up Colorado River Rd. for both the morning and afternoon groups. Its sweet smooth paved rolling hill's (Everything is a Big Ring) until just before the Town of Burns. That's where you hit the dirt/clay and the fun Begins. The county graded and rolled it every year around this time. Some smoother then the paved, not all, but most of it so
hammer away!

Everybodywill first turns right in the Town of Burns and heads up the two climbs of Blue Mesa to
the “first” turn-a-round. The first climb is .25 mile length at roughly 10% and the second is +/- 1 mile in length at 5-6% in grade and will take you to the top of the Mesa. At the summit of the Mesa you’ll turn around and head back down to the Town of Burns. At that point you will then head back to the Town of Burn and take right back down the Colorado River Rd.

The finish is different this year and IS NOT on the frontage rd This year you’ll take a right on CR 150 to Sweetwater and it’ll be about 9 miles up to the finish.

If you’re not suffering at the end, you didn’t race hard enough! It’s not a classic climbers race, but more of a power course. The dirt/clay is rock hard and smooth.

Parking
Race parking is right off I-70, get off at the Dotsero exit (No.133) follow the north side frontage road west to race parking and packet pickup area. Parking will only be allowed near packet pick area.

Number placement:
Numbers on both sides.

Centerline Rule:
Yellowline/Centerline Rule will be strictly enforced! All sections of this course are open to traffic, Riders must obey yellow line rule AT ALL TIMES, and violators will be relegated, fined, or disqualified by officials. There may be riders and vehicles traveling in the opposite lane, do not endanger them by crossing the yellow line.

If you get dropped from the main groups, please respect local residents driving on the course, allow them to pass and follow the laws of the road.

There are yellow lines for all the paved areas. Any violations will result in an immediate disqualification! Absolutely NO refunds for DQs!

There are some narrow Bridges (three to be exact). Returning groups have the “Right a Way” over outgoing. You will be neutral on the way out i f you meet a returning group. We will try to have people there to help but it’s up to you to make it safe.

Also this is an open road and some of the nicest canyon roads you’ll find. But they are narrow in spots, so if you force a car off the road you will be disqualified. DON’T take over the Road. Please be smart, safe and cautious. The person you meet coming the other way may kill the race next year or KILL you this year! Remember the Cattle Drive?

Sign-in:
two when not feeding team mates.Drop your bottles and trash here, bottles will be collected and brought to the start area for you to retrieve. Team personnel should depart from start finish prior to start to access feed zone. DO NOT LITTER, you will be disqualified and/or fined if caught dropping trash/bottles outside of the feed zone* ACA rule 18.1.5
